RISSYO GROUP

Safety in Transportation

Unwavering safety in transportation

For rookie drivers of the Rissyo Group, we conduct thorough education whereby they must repeat practical training on 50 items that covers from understanding the structure and physical properties of their vehicles to loading and unloading work, and we never let them be on duty as driver alone for at least three months. Even for our veteran drivers, we have them maintain high technical level by periodically conducting safety patrols and having instructors ride with the drivers for tours in order to prevent accidents that may occur due to "being too used to the work".
We share information of dangerous places along service routes with the idea of "being cautious, alert and fearful", and work to improve our ability to predict danger and raise awareness through "KYT ? Kiken (Danger) Yochi (Prediction) Training". Our vehicles are also equipped with a drive recorder to monitor their operation condition, and actual video clips of being "fearful and alert" are made available to the employees as training materials for the KYT.

Ensuring safety in loading and unloading

In order to ensure that 20 items of loading and unloading procedures are conducted without fail, we practice the "pointing and calling" program. By checking items one by one, we eliminate errors.
In addition, we always work under the assumption that an emergency could happen at any time while loading and unloading, therefore, we actively participate in (neutralization) training drills to minimize leakage, should they occur, as well as in joint disaster management training programs that sponsored by consigners and the fire department. Even for feeling of being "fearful and alert" during work at the customers' yard, we make efforts to prevent human error by discussing the opinions from our staff members on site.

Transport safety management

The Rissyo Group actively engages itself in transport safety management. Under the contract with an outside consulting firm, we have a consultant at our monthly transport safety management meeting to ask for relevant advice.
We, as a united group clearfix, are also striving for the improvement of safety awareness by such measures as implementing external audits and conducting manager training by instructors. With the program of transport safety management, safety awareness is widely spread among our employees, aiming for a drop in accident rate.

Flawless crisis management system

The Rissyo Group has constructed its own crisis management system. Should a problem occur, the security supervisor is notified by the driver and immediately dispatch staff members from the operation department to the scene. While the staffs from the operation department deal with the problem, each staff member in charge will contact the appropriate institutions/authorities. Furthermore, a crisis management team, which consists of the security supervisor and personnel from each department involved, will be convened by the chief safety officer, to manage the crisis, taking all necessary measures.
In addition, as we always expect all kinds of problems when transporting a variety of chemicals, our vehicles are equipped with a Yellow Card and equipment for emergency dispatch. We also provide our drivers with thorough training on how to deal with emergencies. We respond quickly and provide appropriate emergency measures to reduce the risk of damage expansion and secondary disasters.

High-quality Transportation services

Offering solutions for transport of a wide array of goods

Through its long-nurtured unique know-how, the Rissyo Group provides transport services for goods from inorganic chemicals to various hazardous materials, organic chemicals, and high-pressure gas. We deliver our customers' goods in any volume that meets their request; from 4t-tank trucks to ISO tank containers, and from cylinders to drums for goods in a small lot.
Besides chemicals, we also deliver your goods carefully from general cargo to food products.

Meeting the needs of round-the-clock transportation

Our wish is to cordially deliver what our customers need, when they need it, to where they need it. The Rissyo Group has constructed an original approach to logistics in order to respond to the various needs of our customers, and now responds to these needs quickly and flexibly.
For example, we respond appropriately to emergency orders from customers in the late night or early morning hours. Should the occasion arises, each department coordinates to find a driver and the products would be delivered in a speedy manner. As a company responsible for transport of chemicals, we believe it is our duty to respond to our customers' needs under any circumstances, 24 hours a day.

CS promotion system (Logistics Quality Improvement Committee)

We have established a CS committee to serve as a central organization to enforce CS activities. CS organizers conduct CS meetings monthly to, for example, plan a basic set of principles, identify problems that occur in everyday duties and propose solutions for these. In addition, the CS organizers hold CS workshops biannually, which convene group clearfix leaders and deputy group clearfix leaders and ask them not only to report their group clearfixs' activities but also to thoroughly convey the basic set of principles decided at the CS meeting as well as to instruct each individual to practice it.

Quality of drivers

The Rissyo Group believes that driver training is essential to the improvement of the quality of logistics. From the newly-recruited to veterans, we encourage our drivers to greet each other with the words of "be safe" and to never forget the sense of gratitude that our company has for our customers.
In addition, group clearfixs are formed with several drivers to conduct activities, and the group clearfix leader will instruct and educate other members of their group clearfix. Each group clearfix has goals set for them, and group clearfix members work together to reach their goals with their group clearfix leaders and deputy group clearfix leaders assuming central roles. We educate our drivers to have a "sense of pride" in being a professional driver and raise their motivation.

Clean Transportation Services

Eco-driving that takes environmental impact into account

We have set improvement of fuel efficiency as a main management objective for our basic environmental policy. Not only deploying fuel efficient vehicles in compliance with environmental standards, we have also installed digital tachographs (a device that records the activities of a vehicle) on all of our vehicles. Thanks to this, we can now strictly manage drivers by recording driving situations at all times, including the vehicle's speed, the number of sudden accelerations. Combined with training courses on fuel-efficient driving, all of our drivers are promoting "eco-driving".
In addition, we have introduced cool storage air conditioners and thermal storage heating mats in the drivers' seats so that even during the hot summer and cold winter, drivers can always turn their engines off while they are waiting or on break.

Obtaining the Green Management Certification

In order to promote management that takes the environment into consideration, we have obtained the Green Management Certification at each office of the group clearfix. We have constructed a system to promote environmental protection within the company, and the Environmental Promotion Team led by the personnel responsible for environmental protection promotes:

  • The introduction of low-emission vehicles, and diesel cars that meet the latest regulatory requirements.
  • More stringent inspection and maintenance of vehicles based on legal inspections.
  • Implementation of eco-driving such as turning engines off when vehicles are idle.
  • Appropriately processing discontinued vehicles and waste in order to promote recycling.

We are making efforts to reduce environmental impact by setting specific numerical goals to be reached in relation to the above items promoting green management.
*What is green management?
A system to certify transportation companies that actively make efforts to reduce environmental impact and protect the Earth's environment based on the management promotion manual created by the Foundation for Promoting Personal Mobility and Ecological Transportation.

Eco-friendly transport system

The Rissyo Group possesses a large-scale vehicle inspection factory. We have constructed a system in which our vehicles can be promptly inspected and repaired at the maintenance facility fully equipped with latest devices such as the computer measuring instrument and the lift dedicated to heavy vehicles, should any defect is detected in the vehicle.
Moreover, we strictly control the condition of our vehicles by conducting environment-affecting emission tests and tire-pressure tests as well as by keeping the records of air filter cleaning, in order to realize an eco-friendly transport system in the aspects of both hardware and software.

Aiming to coexist with society

As a good "corporate citizen", in order to coexist with society, the Rissyo Group promotes the "4S" activities (seiri (organizing), seiton (keeping tidy), seiketsu (cleanliness) and seiso (cleaning)) and makes efforts to participate in cleaning activities not only within company premises but also in customers' premises and in parks and local areas. Moreover, during the "National Road Safety Campaigns" in spring and autumn, we actively participate in local safety training courses. At the same time, we engage in unique programs in which we invite our employees and their family members as well as people from local areas to send in posters, calligraphy and slogans to spread awareness regarding safe driving, and present awards for these at the CS workshop.
We, the Rissyo Group, hope to become a company that is loved by its customers and local areas and contribute to society as a whole.

Employee Education

Education for new employees

The Rissyo Group regards education for new employees as important in order to nurture suitable personnel.
Our rookie drivers receive training on various matters from the education about the structure and physical properties of their vehicles, CS, to practical operations. The training can be roughly divided into six stages below.

  1. Individual safe driving guidance based on the attendance at NASVA
    * classes for new drivers
  2. Education of CS
  3. Education of physical properties
  4. Education of maintenance and inspection
  5. Practice of pointing-and-calling
  6. Education of operation procedures

Aiming to acquire technical knowledge of more than 50 items through this program, a training period of at least three months, from the basics to the advanced, is provided for their genuine advancement.
Having finished these curricula and successfully passed a subsequent driving test that is accompanied by instructors and a safety manager, drivers will finally be deemed safe to be on duty on their own.

  • -Pointing-and-calling practice (daily)
Each day after returning to the office, all the drivers practice pointing-and-calling of basic operation procedures to learn the procedures and pointing-and-calling by heart.
  • -Group leader meeting/group clearfix meeting (monthly for each)
Dissemination of decisions, examination of problematic issues, and sharing of information are attempted.
  • -Driving guidance accompanied by the manager (biannually)
The manager rides with drivers every six months for guidance to improve their skills and safety awareness.
  • -Patrol of shipment bases (monthly)
We implement safe operation guidance on loading procedures.
